Strawberry cultivation increasingly demands precise nutritional management. It is no longer just about producing more, but about doing so in a balanced way\u2014maintaining fruit quality, firmness, flavour, and post-harvest performance. In today\u2019s demanding markets and long supply chains, these factors can make the difference between a good harvest and a truly profitable one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To assess strategies that can help meet these challenges, an agronomic field trial was carried out in El Roc\u00edo (Huelva) during spring 2025 on Cleopatra strawberries, one of the most widely grown varieties in the area. The study evaluated the effect of BRANDT InVigo applied alone and in combination with BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca, focusing on yield parameters as well as fruit quality and shelf life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A trial under real growing conditions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The trial took place on a commercial farm, grown in soil under a macrotunnel, replicating typical local production conditions. At the start of the study, the crop was in active phenological development. All treatments received the same base fertilisation, allowing the specific impact of the tested solutions to be assessed more clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 14 March to 16 May, five foliar applications were made at 15-day intervals, covering the key stages of the production cycle. The trial was conducted by ENSAGRO, an independent company specialised in agronomic testing, ensuring objective and rigorous results.<\/p>\n\n\n

The role of biostimulation and calcium in strawberries<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a continuously producing crop such as strawberry, biostimulation plays an important role in regulating physiological processes such as flowering, fruit set, and fruit development. BRANDT InVigo acts by stimulating plant metabolic activity, supporting more abundant flowering and a better expression of productive potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calcium is essential for fruit quality. Its proper uptake is closely linked to firmness, resistance to mechanical damage, and post-harvest shelf life. BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca supplies highly available, complexed calcium, improving its mobility and functional incorporation into fruit tissues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the trial was to confirm how these solutions\u2014applied individually and in combination\u2014affect crop performance throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n

More flowering and improved fruit set from the early stages<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the earliest effects observed was a significant increase in flowers per plant in the BRANDT InVigo treatments, particularly in the initial phases of the trial. In strawberries, increased flowering is critical, as it directly influences the number of fruits that ultimately reach harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When BRANDT InVigo was combined with BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca, the result was a higher number of fruits per plant throughout the assessment period. Total harvested fruit numbers increased by 11.5% with BRANDT InVigo and by 18.6% with the combined strategy, indicating a clear improvement in fruit set efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Higher yields without compromising fruit size<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The increase in fruit number had a direct impact on overall yield. Total harvested production rose by 16.1% with BRANDT InVigo and by up to 21.6% when applied together with BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Importantly, this higher output did not reduce average fruit weight. The crop sustained a greater fruit load while maintaining fruit size, suggesting a good balance between vegetative growth and fruit development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firmer, sweeter fruit with better post-harvest performance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fruit quality was another key focus of the trial. Firmness\u2014critical for both harvesting and marketing\u2014improved significantly with the combined application of BRANDT InVigo and BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca. Increases ranged from 40% to 60%, with statistically significant differences across almost the entire trial period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A clear improvement in sugar content was also recorded. BRANDT InVigo increased Brix by 15.2%, while the combination with BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca achieved increases of up to 21.7%, particularly in the final harvest. This translates into improved flavour and greater commercial acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post-harvest results were equally positive. The combined strategy delayed the appearance of the first damaged fruit and extended the time needed to reach 50% damage, both at room temperature and under cold storage. This offers a clear advantage for storage, transport, and waste reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Functional calcium: key to firmness and shelf life<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fruit calcium analysis confirmed that not only the total amount matters, but also how much of that calcium is functionally bound within the tissues. The treatment combining BRANDT InVigo and BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca produced a consistent and significant increase in total calcium, as well as a 13.9% rise in bound calcium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This functional calcium is closely associated with greater firmness and improved post-harvest behaviour, strengthening cell structures and improving tissue resistance to damage and breakdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An effective strategy for more profitable strawberry production<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the trial results show that BRANDT InVigo is an effective tool to stimulate flowering, increase fruit numbers, improve yield, and enhance strawberry sugar content. When combined with BRANDT Manni-Plex Ca, the benefits are amplified\u2014delivering maximum yield, firmer fruit, and longer post-harvest life, supported by higher functional calcium levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
